Phon Vilayoune
founder & chief executive officer, Veta Investment Partners

Phon Vilayoune graduated at the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Iowa Business School with a degree in economics.
Phon began his career in investments, starting as a bond analyst and quickly moving up to portfolio management and lead trader for treasuries, equity, and rate derivatives at Principal Global Investors. Phon was awarded the Principal Encore Award in 2006, given only to the top 1% of more than 10,000 employees for his outstanding investment performance and client service while he worked in the Sydney, Australia office.
In 2008, Phon joined Saudi American Bank in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to help lead one of the top proprietary trading teams in the Middle East, where he successfully navigated a multi-billion-dollar portfolio through the global financial crisis and European debt crisis. In 2013, Phon worked at Bloomberg in New York City and Sydney, Australia (again!), where he gained valuable experience working with programmers at one of the top data and financial analytics platforms in the industry.
After many years overseas, Phon and his wife relocated back to Kansas where he led and built the derivatives and risk management team at Security Benefit in 2014. In March 2018, Phon’s team was nominated for and awarded Insurance Risk Management Team of the Year for 2017 by EQDerivatives.
In 2019, Veta Investment Partners was founded due to the continued and growing demand for risk management solutions from the insurance and asset management industry.
