Without them we couldn\u2019t do what we do. So if you\u2019re looking to help us through giving your time, you\u2019re in the right place.<\/p>\n<h2>Why volunteer?<\/h2>\n<p>With more than 3 million volunteers working in the health and social care sector alone, it\u2019s crucial to helping people get the support they need. Volunteers help us to best deliver our services to those affected by spinal cord injury.<\/p>\n<h2>Feel good factor<\/h2>\n<p>Research commissioned by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) shows growing evidence that volunteering boosts mental health and wellbeing. In the \u2018Time Well Spent\u2019 survey (Jan 2019) the most common benefits volunteers reported were enjoyment, a sense of personal achievement and feeling that they make a difference. Three-quarters of those surveyed say it improves their mental health and two-thirds reported feeling less isolated<\/p>\n<h2>New skills and experiences<\/h2>\n<p>Volunteering is a superb way of learning new skills \u2013 and helps many people build experience for paid-work. You\u2019ll be a volunteer who\u2019s already living with a spinal injury so that you can relate your own experiences to those who need our help. Particularly those who have recently sustained an injury \u2013 and their loved ones.
