Daiwa Ichiban Lecture: Eddie Jones on “Driving for Excellence”
Ichibancho, Tokyo, Japan
Organised by The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation in collaboration with the British Embassy in Tokyo, at Ambassador Paul Madden’s Residence.
On 11 April 2019, Eddie Jones, the head coach of the England rugby team, spoke on “Driving for Excellence” at the residence of Britain’s Ambassador to Japan, Paul Madden. This was the fourth lecture in the ongoing Daiwa Ichiban Lecture Series in collaboration with the British Embassy in Tokyo.
In his speech, Jones passed on tips about how to manage successful teams, based on his own experiences in the rugby world. He reminisced about his time managing the Japanese national team, who so excitingly outperformed expectations in the 2015 World Cup, held in the UK. And he threw down the gauntlet to rivals in advance of the 2019 World Cup in Japan, expressing confidence that his England team can go all the way.
