Saturday 1 January – Saturday 31 December 2022
Solidarity
13/14 Cornwall Terrace, Outer Circle (entrance facing Regent's Park), London NW1 4QP
Organised by the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation
The war in Ukraine has now been going on for nearly three months, and there is still no sign that it is approaching an end any time soon. This conflict has shaken the international order established after WWII, and disrupted the relative calm that has prevailed in Europe since the end of the Cold War. As a result of the conflict, nuclear and cyber threats are also on the rise, with profound consequences for regional and global security architectures. These security concerns also extend to the Asian region. At the same time, we still need to solve the problems associated with refugees, migration, inequality, food security and climate change.
Seeing this year as a major turning point, our annual seminar series will focus on the topic of “Solidarity” in its different forms. Our events will aim to reflect on how solidarity can be strengthened to overcome the current difficulties and contribute to a better society for the future.
In this regard, we expect to cover the following topics:
- International cooperation and solidarity
- Solidarity and Security
- Solidarity in Journalism
- Refugee Protection
- Solidarity and artists
