Japan and Wales: Investment, Innovation and Future Economies

Organised by the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation and the University of Wales
This afternoon symposium at Cardiff City Hall considered Japan’s relationship with Wales from inward investment to present-day research, innovation and manufacturing links. Jointly organised by the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation and the University of Wales, the programme featured speakers from government, business and industry. The keynote address on Japan-UK Economic Relations was delivered by Mr Hiroshi Oka, Economics Minister at the Embassy of Japan, London. Other speakers included Lord Rowe-Beddoe, Chair of the Welsh Development Agency (1993-2001), Steve Dalton, Managing Director of Sony Wales, and Glen S Fukushima, Chairman of Airbus Japan.
The symposium addressed the longstanding connections between Japan and Wales and looked, in the context of recent events, at Japan’s future in the global economy.
The event was free of charge.
