Dr Matanle gave a presentation, Beyond Lifetime Employment? Re-fabricating Japanese employment relations, with Dr Christopher Hood as chair.
Japanese Capitalism and Modernity in a Global Era investigates the key themes surrounding the lifetime employment system, including the attitudes and values of Japanese company employees and whether or not Japan is converging with Western forms of capitalist organisation. Dr Matanle explores these issues from the perspective of both management and employees through extensive research within four large Japanese corporations.
The book is part of the Sheffield Centre for Japanese Studies/Routledge Curzon series.
