Calling out for volunteers who would like to help with the Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta school children in late March, early April 2014
Categorised under: Grants
The Fukushima Youth Sinfonietta, comprising of 33 young people (12-14 years old) from four middle schools in Fukushima, is coming over to London with two teachers from March 29th (afternoon) until April 4th (morning).
The highlight of their visit is a performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the evening of April 2nd (click here for a concert flyer), and most of their time will be taken up rehearsing for this, but the students will also do some sight-seeing, give some talks, a pre-performance concert at Kings Place and a visit to a young people’s charity.
For the rehearsals on Sunday 30th March and April 2nd itself, a Japanese person will be available to interpret and help out, but help is needed at rehearsals on March 31st and April 1st (Monday and Tuesday) during the day.
Chris Patrick, a Trustee with Keys of Change also needs more general help (interpreting, generally making sure all the students are happy, know what’s going on etc etc) for the whole time.
Volunteers would never be alone with the young people and would not be responsible for their safety.
Anyone interested should contact Chris Patrick (Trustee) at chris@keysofchange.org.
