Carl Randall's 'Japan Portraits' available for purchase

Former Daiwa Scholar Carl Randall’s signed, limited edition hardback catalogue, Japan Portraits, is available for purchase at the Hayward Gallery giftshop, Southbank Centre, or through Carl’s website.

Carl Randall (born 1975, UK) is a graduate of Tokyo University of Fine Arts, Japan (MA & Doctorate, Fine Art), The Princes Drawing School, London (Drawing Year), and The Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, London (BA, Painting). He was a Daiwa Scholar from 2003 – 2005.

Winner of the BP Travel Award 2012, Randall’s newest exhibition, ‘In the footsteps of Hiroshige: Portraits of Modern Japan’ runs at the National Portrait Gallery until 15 September 2013.

The catalogue contains a foreword by Desmond Morris, (an English zoologist, whose books often examine how the biological nature of the human species has shaped the cultures of the contemporary world) and introduction by Donald Richie (1924 – 2013), former curator of film at the New York Museum of Modern Art.

A new exhibition, ‘Tokyo Portraits’ will be exhibited at The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, January 16 to 12 March 2014.

Works by Carl will also be exhibited alongside Ando Hiroshige’s original woodblock prints in a solo exhibition at The  Tokaido Hiroshige Art Museum in Shizuoka, Japan, 25 June to 15 September 2014.
