Cotswold Ekiden on 3rd September 2017

Categorised under:

The beauty of the Cotswolds meets the Orient with a brand new running race coming on 3rd September 2017. Cotswold Ekiden brings together the best of Japanese culture and tradition in this relay race.

Taking place at the beautiful Sudeley Castle in the heart of the Cotswolds, each runner within a team of four will complete a 5.5km route to ensure their tasuki gets to the finish in the best possible time. The route is undulating and predominantly off-road. It is suitable for runners of all abilities, offering stunning views of the Cotswold hills and Sudeley castle. Teams will consist of running clubs, businesses, universities and social runners. If runners are unable to get a full team together we will be able to help. The race will represent all that is great about Japanese Ekiden races.

The event offers food and drinks (hot and cold), toilets and free parking next to the race hub. There will also be Japanese inspired entertainment. The castle and gardens will be open on the day (subject to an entrance fee). All runners will have chip-timing and will receive a t-shirt and medal on finishing. Winner’s prizes will be available. Other ideas to make this a unique event are being organised and news on these will follow.
