Eastside Festival - all day 23 July 2011 at Stratford Circus
The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation was delighted to support this day of Japan-related events conceived by Jah Wobble and his team. Donations for free workshops were sent to the relief fund for Japanese communities who have been affected in the recent natural and environmental disasters. Most of the workshops were free to attend though Joji Hirota’s drumming performance and Jah Wobble and his Japanese Dub Orchestra were ticketed events. For more information, click here for the website and here for the Matsuri flyer.
From ikebana to Taiko drumming, koto, calligraphy and of course Jah Wobble and his Japanese Dub Orchestra, Jah’s Eastside Masturi (or festival) evoked a sense of the richness and diversity of modern Japan fused with a healthy dose of contemporary British talent.
