Toru Kuwakubo Special Weekend Opening 13th-14th October
Categorised under: Art & Exhibitions, Events
Our special weekend opening for this exhibition on October 13th and 14th coincides with Frieze, London’s premier Art Fair. If you are in London for the Frieze London Art Fair at Regent’s Park, why not come over to Daiwa Foundation Japan House which is opposite Regent’s Park at 13/14 Cornwall Terrace / Outer Circle. Even if you are not planning to visit Frieze, this special opening provides an opportunity for those who usually work during 9 to 5 to see the first London solo show of one of Japan’s foremost contemporary painters. Daiwa Foundation Japan House Gallery will be open from 10am to 2pm on 13th and 14th October . On September 27th at 6pm, we will host a talk by the artist and Professor Adrian Favell.
Kuwakubo’s stunning large scale paintings of the sea, at both daytime and at night, depict everyday objects from the artist’s life scattered around almost alien, vibrantly coloured seascapes. These paintings are highly textured, with an almost sculptural feel to them; one really has to see them to properly appreciate the full force of these breath-taking paintings.
Frieze London 2012 + Frieze Masters
Is on from 11 to 14 October 2012. Arguably the hottest date in the contemporary art calendar, Frieze London celebrates its tenth edition this year. 2012 also sees the launch of Frieze Masters, a new fair presenting a unique contemporary perspective on historical art.
