At Ease in the City: Urban Lifestyles and the Pursuit of Leisure
Daiwa Foundation Japan House
Organised by the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation
The impact of lifestyle changes is being reflected in cities throughout the world, and Britain and Japan offer up some fascinating case studies. Facilities for relaxation, shopping, entertainment and the display of public art are transforming business districts into comfort zones. Work and leisure spaces are becoming increasingly integrated and urban life is adapting to accommodate the priorities of different generations as well as international influences.
The speakers for this seminar addressed some of these developments and considered how architecture and urban planning are evolving in response to lifestyle issues and consumer demand in the 21st century city.
Organised in association with The Japan Society.
