Getting Around the City: The Role of Transport and Infrastructural Issues

Daiwa Foundation Japan House

Organised by the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation

A key aspect of urban quality of life is accessibility. That will always involve some need for travel within the city – arguably the most controversial of all urban policy areas.

Probably every British person who has been to Japan, at some point finds him or herself crying out, ‘if only we had their rail and bus systems over here (but not their traffic jams)!’

This seminar looked at an innovative range of ways to solve or reduce the problems of mobility in the city.
