The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation is pleased to announce an exhibition of installation and photography by Yukako Shibata.Shibata’s work shares a common vocabulary, which is essentially minimal, of objects that are touched with a Japanese aesthetic of subtlety and simplicity in colour and shape.

The three artists short listed for the Daiwa Foundation Art Prize, introducing British artists to Japan, will exhibit their work at Daiwa Foundation Japan House Gallery in London until 17 July 2009. The winner of the £5,000 prize and the opportunity for a solo exhibition at the Tomio Koyama Gallery in Tokyo – Marcus Coates – was announced on 16th June.

Visual artist, Chino Otsuka was born in Tokyo and moved to the UK in 1982 at the age of 10. Graduating from the Royal College of Art in MA Fine Art Photography, her work has been exhibited widely in the UK and Europe.
