CROSS CURRENTS: glasswork and ceramics by Keiko Mukaide and Simon Ward

A private viewing which exhibited the glass and ceramic work of Keiko Mukaide and Simon Ward by Cross Currents, and examined the cultural differences and similarities of two artists from opposite sides of the world. With a myriad of experience of living and working in both Japan and the UK, the exhibition visually explored fragments of their shared narrative and the sympathies and contrasts between their island cultures.

(H)allo-poiesis by Kounosuke Kawakami

Often painting abandoned buildings eroded by nature, Kounosuke Kawakami chooses industrial architecture and resort towns as symbols for the interaction between the natural world and humans. In (H)allo-poiesis, Kawakami uses a new visual language to explore his interest in the relationship between man and the natural world.

Daiwa Foundation Art Prize: Introducing British Artists to Japan - Short-list Exhibition: Marcus Coates, Adam Dant and Bedwyr Williams Private View

The three artists short listed for the Daiwa Foundation Art Prize, introducing British artists to Japan, will exhibit their work at Daiwa Foundation Japan House Gallery in London until 17 July 2009. The winner of the £5,000 prize and the opportunity for a solo exhibition at the Tomio Koyama Gallery in Tokyo – Marcus Coates – was announced on 16th June.
