2020 was a year of extraordinary change. The pandemic has transformed the world dramatically, affecting many aspects of our lives and posing significant challenges for institutions and individuals around the world. Covid-19 also seems to be accelerating the shift of power and influence from West to East, while nationalism and multiple forms of inequality have intensified divisions in society.
Last year, we focussed on analysing the current situation, the challenges faced by political leaders and others dealing with the pandemic, the global order (US-China) and international collaboration amid growing ‘vaccine nationalism’. We also discussed how the arts and other cultural industries are adopting and shifting, as well as the new possibilities offered by technology.
The pandemic has changed perspectives in many ways, and is making us rethink the future. This year, we would like to go into depth in rethinking existing international frameworks, systems and social models, to understand the nature of the problems that have emerged and examine where we are going, and how we can reach a better future. Topics will include:
- Globalisation and Democracy
- Humans and AI
- Climate change
- Capitalism
- The future of design and architecture
