Yoi Kawakubo: Art after Fukushima and Tohoku (Talk at ICA at 2pm on 8 October)

Yoi Kawakubo is a photographer and artist, born in Spain and currently based in Tokyo.He bases his works on themes regarding the ontology of photography, light, and social issues such as disaster affected areas of Fukushima and Tohoku. On Wednesday 8 October at 2pm, he will give a talk at the ICA in London (in partnership with the University of the Arts London: Camberwell, Chelsea, Wimbledon).

Scottish Chamber Orchestra's 2014/15 opening concert is a Toshio Hosokawa Harp Concerto World Premiere on 9 October 2014

In the March 2014 funding round, the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation awarded a Small Grant to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra to help fund visits to Scotland by the composer Toshio Hosokawa and the harpist Naoko Yoshino for two performances of Aeolus, a harp concerto written especially for the SCO, and pre-concert talks, leading to further partnerships between the SCO and Japanese artists.

5 Additional screenings of "Love Hotel" at the ICA: 26 September to 2 October 2014

The UK premiere of acclaimed new feature documentary LOVE HOTEL was held at the ICA London on Wednesday 17th September at 8pm. Given the popularity of the film the ICA has announced additional screenings for the Osaka based feature documentary LOVE HOTEL after the UK Premiere on the 17th September and extra screenings  Saturday 20th September at 3.30pm and Sunday 28th September at 2:00pm sold out. Former Daiwa Award recipients working on recording Junzo Yoshimura's designs for the AUA campus

Last year we gave a Daiwa Foundation Award to a collaboration between Central Saint Martins (CSM), University of the Arts London and Aichi University of the Arts (AUA). The Project Leaders were Professor Graham Ellard (CSM) and Professor Yoko Terauchi (AUA).The Daiwa Foundation Award was used to support visits to Japan by academics from CSM collaborating with colleagues at AUA in a touring exhibition of new work, and a film screening at the Setouchi Triennale and the Aichi Triennale.
