Exhibition : Ohgetsu Fujita presents… Emoji & Jazz on 27th, 28th & 29th July 2018

Up-and-coming Japanese artist Ohgetsu Fujita visits the UK especially to present her unique take on the art of calligraphy. The result is an evolution of tradition which focuses on spatial beauty. Hundred Years Gallery is proud to showcase her collection of Emoji-inspired artwork, fusing both traditional calligraphy (*1), Zenei-Shodou (*2) and her own creative techniques, which Fujita-san has mastered over the course of her career.

CLOD ENSEMBLE presents 'Snow' as part of the Noh Reimagined Festival, 30 June 2018 at King's Place

CLOD ENSEMBLE is pleased to present ‘Snow’, a twenty-minute sound piece inspired by the restless spirits in Japanese Noh Theatre. ‘Snow’ will be one of three short pieces shown as part of ‘The Transformative Power of Mugen Noh’ during ‘Noh Reimagined’ Festival at Kings Place, London on Saturday 30 June 2018, 7.30pm. In a pre-show talk, Suzy Willson and Paul Clark will talk about their recent visit to Japan, which was supported by the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation.

Gohei Nishikawa London Debut - Special Piano Recital on 14 October

Gohei Nishikawa, a world class pianist who plays only with his seven fingers, will perform in St Lawrence Jewry on 14th October, with a special guest soprano Charlotte de Rothschild. Doors open 6:15PM, concert starts at 7PM. Tickets £20-£25.

Nishikawa, who currently lives in New York City, was a rising young star who performed at the Lincoln Centre and Carnegie Hall. Tragically in 2001, Nishikawa began his battle with Dystonia, neurological disorder which impairs and distorts motor movements. Through years of rehabilitation, he has slowly regained his ability to play with his right hand and the two working fingers on his left hand.
