Exhibition by Ichijoh Shimotani at the Double Tree by Hilton West End in London, 2-5 October 2015

This London exhibition is Ichijoh Shimotani’s first ever show outside of Japan.

Ichijoh Shimotani is a Japanese Bokusai painter based in Osaka, Japan.  Born in Tokushima, Japan, Ichijoh graduated from the The Osaka University of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1965 and soon discovered her love for painting. In 1974, she ventured into the world of oil painting and has had a presence in the Japanese traditional and modern art scene ever since.

5 Additional screenings of "Love Hotel" at the ICA: 26 September to 2 October 2014

The UK premiere of acclaimed new feature documentary LOVE HOTEL was held at the ICA London on Wednesday 17th September at 8pm. Given the popularity of the film the ICA has announced additional screenings for the Osaka based feature documentary LOVE HOTEL after the UK Premiere on the 17th September and extra screenings  Saturday 20th September at 3.30pm and Sunday 28th September at 2:00pm sold out. Two powerful documentaries by Yoshitaka Terada to be shown at SOAS, University of London on 18 and 22 February 2014

Two powerful documentary films by Yoshitaka TERADA  of Japan’s National Museum of Ethnology will be shown at SOAS, University of London (Khalili Lecture Theatre) on February 18th and 22nd respectively. These deal with music’s role in helping two minorities in the Osaka area – Okinawans and the so-called Burakumin ‘outcasts’ – actively and publicly deal with prejudice and injustice.
