Cultivating UK-Japan Research Collaboration through Sports, 18 December 2015 at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation funds harpist and hip-hop

The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation has announced details of its grants awarded to support UK-Japan projects in its latest funding round. One project supported is a visit by Japanese harpist Naoko Yoshino and composer Toshio Hosokawa for performances in Edinburgh and Glasgow of a new harp concerto by Hosokawa in October. Funding is also given to the Japanese hip-hop dance group Capliore to perform in Liverpool, Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh in July.

Britain at the 1964 Olympics – Information from an Exhibition

In 1964, Tokyo held the Olympics, 24 years after it would have done, if it hadn’t been for the outbreak of the Second World War. Tokyo was still recovering from the war, repairing buildings and train systems in time for the Olympics. In fact, Tokyo went beyond repair.

'Tokyo 1964' Exhibition at the Japanese Embassy, London from 18th July until 7th September 2012, Monday to Friday

Today (20 July 2012) we visited the Japanese Embassy to see the new “Tokyo 1964” Olympics exhibition. This exhibition was filled with all sorts of photos, literature, information and other memorabilia from the 1964 games (and the months preceding them!).
