Carl Randall’s large canvas Tokyo Portrait (pictured) has been purchased for the permanent collection of the prestigious Fondation Carmignac in Paris, France. The painting (acrylic on canvas, 182 X 227cm) was made in Japan and required painting over 200 residents of Tokyo, each painted one by one directly from life at his studio in Tokyo.

The UK premiere of acclaimed new feature documentary LOVE HOTEL was held at the ICA London on Wednesday 17th September at 8pm. Given the popularity of the film the ICA has announced additional screenings for the Osaka based feature documentary LOVE HOTEL after the UK Premiere on the 17th September and extra screenings Saturday 20th September at 3.30pm and Sunday 28th September at 2:00pm sold out. ‘Quietness in noise’ – Opening reception on 23 August, 5-8pm. Presented by Subject Matter in collaboration with SPoN! The show continues until 3 September. Proceeds from the crowd-sourced photographic artwork will go to the Japan Emergency Network (JEN NPO), in order to support those affected by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.

Schema – Sukima at Laure Genillard Gallery (LGLondon), brings into dialogue the work of three Japanese artists and British contemporaries. It is curated by David Connearn, and features work by Yoko Terauchi, professor at Aichi University of the Arts and a recent Daiwa Foundation Award recipient.
