Daiwa Foundation Tohoku Scholarships: Applications Closed

Applications have now closed for the Daiwa Foundation Tohoku Scholarships.

In response to the 11 March 2011 earthquake and tsunami in the north east of Japan, the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, in partnership with the British Council in Japan, launched a £250,000 scholarship fund to support Japanese students in the Tohoku region.

WEA course: Art History: Japanese Art, Culture and Society, from 3 Oct 2011

The WEA (Workers’ Educational Association) for Adult Learning will be operating a course with the support of  the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation. This course will help to develop an understanding of the Japanese artistic and cultural approach, providing knowledge about key aesthetics and other essential issues relating to Japanese art and culture.

Eastside Festival - all day 23 July 2011 at Stratford Circus

The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation was delighted to support this day of Japan-related events conceived by Jah Wobble and his team.  Donations for free workshops were sent to the relief fund for Japanese communities who have been affected in the recent natural and environmental disasters. Most of the workshops were free to attend though Joji Hirota’s drumming performance and Jah Wobble and his Japanese Dub Orchestra were ticketed events.  For more information, click here for the website and here for the Matsuri flyer.

Daiwa Foundation Art Prize - Call for Entries

The call for entries for the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation’s second Art Prize is now open with applications closing on Monday 26 September 2011.  The Daiwa Foundation Art Prize is an open submission Prize which will offer a British artist a first solo exhibition in Japan.
